At the foot of the Vercors mountains, the Distillerie des 4 Vallées opens its doors to you for an educational, lively and sensory guided tour. Here, we don't "look" at lavender: we understand it, smell it, and learn how to choose and use it.
For 1 hour, your guide takes you to the heart of a family-run farm founded in 1930 and still in business today. You'll discover :
● The history of lavender and why it has become a mainstay of our daily lives (perfumery, well-being, domestic uses, etc.).
● The main lavender families: fine lavender, lavandin, spike lavender... how to tell them apart (cultivation, scent, uses, yields).
● Markets and outlets: what flowers from thousands of hectares grown in France are used for (essential oils, floral waters, cosmetics, flavors...).
● Distillation explained simply: from traditional methods to today's processes (vocabulary, stages, logic "from flower to bottle").
● An interactive olfactory workshop: guided comparison of aromatic profiles (lavender, lavandin, aspic) + concrete pointers for choosing according to your needs.
● A practical conclusion: how to use your bottles of essential oils and floral waters on a daily basis, with clear, responsible advice.
After the visit, you can extend the experience at your own pace: a "distillation memory" area with old stills, a free stroll nearby, then a visit to the producers' boutique (over 300 artisanal and French products).
