Down at the water's edge

A natural provider of relaxation and well-being, water will accompany you throughout your stay : from mountain streams fed by snow-melt to the pebbles on the banks of the river Drôme where you will experience the pleasure of doing nothing in particular on a sunny summer's day.

A few ideas for spending a few convivial moments

The Drôme provides a cooling down opportunity in summer. Some deeper pools are suitable for swimming (be aware that you are sharing the water with canoes). Access exists all along the main road (parking provided).

Les Gorges de la Roanne
between St Benoit and St Nazaire le Désert abound in nice spots and natural pools (but take care after heavy rain). To find this little paradise, you can choose from a number of itineraries.

Le Claps 3 km beyond the village of Luc-en-Diois towards Gap is a huge rock fall with an artificial lake (useable by small craft) and deeper pools amidst the rocks. Also available : climbing routes, via ferrata, refreshments…

Le Plan d’eau du Pas des Ondes, (artificial lake) at the Pas des Ondes, south of La Motte Chalancon contains two specially laid out lakes, one for swimming, supervised by lifeguards in July and August (pay on entry), and one for fishing.

Set off to discover wild and well hidden waterfalls

Le Saut de la Drôme at the Claps de Luc-en-Diois, impressive in spring when the water is high.

Le Sapet reached from les Nonières. Follow a track that starts in the village centre and takes you to the bottom of the waterfall.

in the vallon de La Jarjatte, reached from the ‘Couleur Nature’ centre (1h30 walk, follow the yellow and green waymarking), nested in its landscape dominated by the ten highest peaks in the Drôme, all at over 2000 m. altitude!
