One lovely gem, which is published
as a bilingual English and French booklet, will be a delight to
any visitor who enjoys the Diois. Renowned American author Henry
Miller was a regular visitor to and great fan of Die. In
1959, while he was living in Big Sur, California, Miller wrote a
short essay about his appreciation of Die, its people and its surroundings.
The essay was in the form of a letter to his friend Francis Druart,
who was at the time the philosophy teacher at the high school in
Die. The essay was published by La Fosse Aux Ours in June 2007 under
the title “Jours heureux
à Die” (Happy Days in Die) and is available
at the bookshop in Die.
