There is something here for everyone
…
A springtime walk in the meadows of the Vallon
(small valley) de Combeau
would have inspired Wordsworth, for not only do the hosts of golden
daffodils flutter and dance in the breeze, but they are joined in
a spectacular riot of colourful, beautiful and often rare wildflowers. |

The Cirque
d’Archiane is an awe-inspiring
feast for the eyes. The tiny hamlet of Archiane is surrounded by
an imposing circle of magnificent limestone cliffs. A little patience
here may also be rewarded by a glimpse of a wild ibex traversing
a steep rock face.
Or you may want to see the highest point in the
department of the Drome, the Rocher Rond, or Round Rock. At 2,456
meters, it dominates the pretty Jarjatte
valley. |

If you have small children, they will certainly want to swim and play
in the natural pools of Le Claps
near Luc-en-Diois. Le Claps resembles a long-abandoned giants’
playground, strewn with massive rocks through which threads the river
Drome.
As well as swimming, children and adults alike can climb the faces
of the boulders, which have been designed by nature to accommodate
absolute beginners as well as those in search of some serious climbing
challenges.
Members of the family inclined towards more gentle pursuits can amble
along the scenic paths that weave among the boulders – or simply
relax with a picnic by the water. |
